Okay, good news. The 2009 ACL schedule is out.
Now comes one of the hard parts: conflict resolution.
The Knux or Blitzen Trapper?
The Walkmen or K'Naan?
Phoenix or Daniel Johnston?
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead or Bon Iver?
The Decemberists or DeVotchKa?
Arctic Monkeys or The Rebirth Brass Band?
Here We Go Magic or Rodriguez?
Passion Pit or Michael Franti and Spearhead?
Mos Def or The Levon Helm Band? (ACL is the only thing that could result in such a strange question.)
There's usually a bit of shuffling between the time the schedule comes out and the festival. So maybe some of these conflicts will be resolved. Or maybe others will arise.
Now for the bad news. The Beastie Boys have cancelled their entire tour, ACL included. Poor Adam "MCA" Yauch is dealing with cancer of his salivary gland. Good luck to Yauch on a full recovery. Here's hoping the healthy Beasties will be on the 2010 ACL roster.
